  • The Bungalow provides a focus for young people aged 13 - 19 years in Buckfastleigh, the town and its rural environs, and enables them to develop their capacity and potential. The project is the result of the expressed needs of young people, established in March 2001 by a group of young people whose aim was to take over an empty and almost derelict bungalow in Victoria Park, to renovate it and to establish a new youth drop-in / cafe for young people aged 13+.Quality Youth Work principles and Youth Participation form a basis for the project and enable it to develop to reflect the needs of young people in Buckfastleigh.The Bungalow: * Provides a warm, safe setting for young people to socialise in a drop-in / cafe environment. * Empowers young people by enabling them to access information and training, identify, gain and develop skills. * Facilitates young people's participation in the community through activities and projects. * Provides young people with training and opportunities for gaining skills through specific courses, events, activities and projects, in addition to regular drop-in / cafe sessions. * Develops and grows partnerships with other youth and community agencies/groups. * Promotes and supports young people's participation and representation in all aspects of The Bungalow Youth Project.The Bungalow Youth Project is part funded by Devon Youth Service and by the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund and DEFRA, through the Teignbridge Rural Regeneration Partnership EU LEADER+ Programme.
