A FUN-LOVING young woman was almost killed when she was hit by a quad-bike in Cyprus.

Siobhan McQuade, 21, from Thundersley, suffered three fractures to her skull when a bike hit her as she walked along a pavement in the tourist resort of Ayia Napa.
Doctors performed emergency surgery following the accident, last Thursday, and she was left in intensive care, fighting for her life.
However, since then she has made a strong recovery and is now sitting up in her hospital bed and talking.
Dad Paul, who stayed at home while his wife Catherine flew to Cyprus, said the family were incredibly relieved.
Paul, 50, of Hart Road, Thundersley, said: “My wife told me she just woke up and started trying to pull all the tubes out of her.
“She can’t remember much, but at least she is talking and moving about.
“From the injuries she received she is doing amazingly well.
“She is even talking about coming back home, but given her condition that will be a while off.”
She is still suffering from pain due to swelling on her brain and she will remain in hospital for further treatment.
Siobhan has been working in Cyprus for holiday firm Thomson First Choice for the past three months.
She was walking with a colleague in the late afternoon when a quad bike, driven by a 17-year-old Israeli tourist, mounted the pavement and ended up on top of her.
The teenager, who was uninjured, had not been drinking, but is believed not to have had the appropriate licence and was arrested.
Siobhan was rushed to a local hospital before being transferred to Cyprus’s main hospital in Nicosia due to the severity of her injuries.
Paul, who got a call from her colleague on Thursday evening, said he feared the worst.
He said: “It was awful, it was really not a nice feeling.
“It was worse because she was so far away.
“When my wife flew out there we thought we wouldn’t be bringing her back.”
Since the accident scores of friends have written on Siobhan’s Facebook page to wish her a full recovery.
Best friend Jade Harris, 21, said Siobhan was a popular and well-loved young woman.
She said: “She is outgoing, very independent and really fun.”
